About Carousel Taffy!

The dream of Carousel Taffy began when a little boy, David Ross, visited the coast with his family for the first time. As his family walked along the beautiful waterfront of Morro Bay, they were enchanted by the many restaurants and shops. The restaurant that made the greatest impact on David was the one that also sold Salt Water Taffy. What fun it was for him to pick out his favorite colors of taffy and, how he savored each one!

Shortly after that visit to the coast, the Ross family decided to move to Morro Bay. Gordon Ross, David`s father, soon purchased a small take-out stand that was open seasonally. Selling hamburgers and corn dogs to the surfers and summer visitors was a great delight. During the off season, Gordon and his wife, Beth, were able to travel and spend time with the children. As David grew older, he worked in his spare time at the take-out stand. Years later, he eventually purchased the business so his father could enjoy retirement.

David subsequently expanded the take-out stand into a full service family restaurant. With windows overlooking the picturesque Morro Rock, The Fish Shanty was the place to eat! However something was still missing! Remembering his very first visit to the coast so many years ago, David ultimately converted the Fish Shanty gift shop into a Salt Water Taffy extravaganza! The Taffy Shop became an instant success! After a wonderful meal, the soft, mouth watering Salt Water Taffy is the perfect dessert. Today, we want to share our delicious and flavorful Salt Water Taffy with everyone.
